           Here raw water having hardness is passed through a softening plant filled with High Capacity styrene strong acid cation exchange resins in sodium form. The hardness caused by low solubility salts such as Calcium and Magnesium in water are exchanged with high solubility salts like sodium during this process. When specified amount of treated water is delivered, it results in to exhaustion of Resin bed. the regeneration of resin bed is a carried out by passing NaCl solution (Common Salt) through the resin bed to active the resin to put the system back in operating.
